FAQs

Q?

Can I monitor and record the street in front of my house? An Alleyway?

A.

Absolutely!  As long as you put the camera on your own property and the only scene visible includes the public areas, you have the right to do this.

Should your camera also capture area's of your neighbors, we recommend advising them as to not intrude on their privacy.

Q?

What is a DVR?

A.

DVR stands for Digital Video Recorder.  With a DVR in your home or office you will always have a record of “events”.  The DVR will always be recording the information your cameras are receiving while storing that information on a standard “Hard Drive”.  The DVR will record continuously until you have reason to review it. Once you have reason to review the information recorded to the hard drive you can search via “events” and achieve them onto transferable media.

Please note:  When at capacity, the DVR overwrites the information on the hard drive.  So archiving it is a great suggestion.   We offer remote assistance should you require it.

Q?

A.

Absolutely Not!  We are professional installers and we are providing advanced user-friendly technology systems.

After installation our technicians will be happy to train you in the use and care of you newly purchased equipment.

Q?

Is WIFI a good solution?

A.

WIFI video is indeed a simple solution, although it carries other major types of threats.  With the ability to run a system, whether it is a computer network or a wireless camera system, you open yourself up to interception of crucial data/information.

It is recommended that when you install a new WIFI system, you change the factory password to something that is considered stronger making it harder for anyone to decipher.  This would include mix characters (Upper and Lowercase), numbers and special symbols.

Q?

Does night vision work?

A.

Absolutely!  Cameras today allow you to see at night; most in total darkness!  There are two technologies:  IR (Infrared) and DSS (Digital Slow Shutter), The IR cameras have LED’s that will automatically trigger-on under low illumination; they work for every day quality night-vision.  The DSS cameras, on the other hand, have no LED’s at all.  In fact, they work off of lux, which is a measurement of light in candle-watts.  These cameras provide very high quality night vision at .0001 lux; which equates to 1:10,000 of a candle-watt!

Q?

Will I still need to use my current alarm system?

A.

You can keep it active if you like.  We feel that the only positive thing alarms offer is a call to the local police when you are not home.  The call out, unfortunately, won’t save your property.

Q?

Will these cameras work on any TV?

A.

No.  The system requires wide screen viewing with High-Definition capabilities of at least 720p or higher.
